Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 326. We are supported by Pinnacle Church in Canton, NC.

We have an exciting boy led program that has a strong emphasis on duty to God, utilizes the patrol method, and ignites a passion for the outdoors.

Last Scout Meeting of 2010

Scoutmaster Tim doesn't like to cancel meetings.... so when God gave us a boat-load of snow, we made sled runs!!! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!! We did however move the meeting time up several hours since everybody was out of school. Thanks to all who braved the elements to come out and have some fun!

WINTER CAMPING SURVIVAL SKILLS

Saturday, December 18th we will be camping in Tim's Scout World at Pinnacle Church (down the hill from the church, by the river). The plan is to arrive at 9:00am at Pinnacle Church. Eat breakfast BEFORE arriving. Bring a bag lunch for Saturday's lunch. Dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning will be provided for you.

During this outing we will:

1)
Build winter shelters
2) Work on the trail from the church to the Scout Hut
3) Conduct a Board of Review for any Scout who needs one to recieve their Rank at the Court of Honor on Monday. (Last chance.)
4) Support Pinnacle Church (our chartered organization) by doing a service project Sunday morning. CLASS "A" UNIFORMS REQUIRED.

What to bring:

*Something to drink (I recomend water)
*Something to eat (pack a bag lunch)
*Something to keep you warm (dress in layers and bring gloves and a hat or a toboggan)
*Something to keep you dry (a winter rain jacket or a disposable rain poncho, just in case)
*Something to carry your stuff (a backpack is a wonderful thing, but keep it light)
*Something to help with the shelter (Tim has authorized 1 tarp and 1 rope per scout)
*Something to help you work (I recomend some work gloves for the trail)
*Something to make you look sharp (that means bring your CLASS "A" UNIFORM for Sunday)
*Something to make this fun! (I recomend a smile and a good attitude)

2010 CANTON CHRISTMAS PARADE

On Thursday, December 2nd our Troop joined with Pack 326 and the North Canton Fire Department in the Canton Christmas Parade. The Cub Scouts got to ride on top of one of the big trucks and the Boy Scouts formed an honor guard walking behind them with the American flag and our troop flag. It was a little chilly but a lot of fun. We would like to say thank you to the men and women of the North Canton Fire Department for making this extra special.

Historic Carpentry Merit Badge

For the month of November, we will be working on the Carpentry Merit Badge. This is one of four historic merit badges that will only be available this year in honor of the 1ooth anniversary of Scouting. Time is running out. If you don't earn it now, you probably will not get another chance. You can use the link below to check out the requirements and get a head start on earning this historic merit badge.

Here are some pictures of the Troop building picnic tables as part of the requirments for the Carpentry Merit Badge. They did an amazing job, displaying enthusiasm and maturity. They followed all instruction very well and kept safety in mind as they worked.

Camping at Harmon Den & Hiking at Max Patch

SNOW!!! Yes, we woke up with snow on the ground. Thank God for winter camping! We had a good campsite in Harmon Den right next to a river. (Which no body fell into. Good job guys.) Everybody stayed warm and survived. On Saturday we met up with a couple of Cub Scouts from Pack 326 and then proceded on our winter driving adventure up to Max Patch! (Thanks to Rob and his snow chains!) At the top we had a short hike in the snow. It felt like we were on some kind of Arctic Expedition. What an exciting campout and hike! Thanks to all who came out. We're proud of you. Way to go Coyote Patrol with flying your patrol flag.

01 November 2010

OUR NOVEMBER EVENT will be camping at Harmon Den on Friday night November 5th, followed up by a hike up to Max Patch with the Cub Scouts of Pack 326 on Saturday the 6th. We will be meeting at Pinnacle Church at 4:00pm on Friday. There is a possibility of scattered snow showers during this outing, so DRESS WARMLY in layers. We will stop at McDonalds to eat dinner on the way out so make sure you have money with you. We are expecting to return to Pinnacle by 4:00pm on Saturday. You will need to bring the following:
Money for dinner & breakfast at McDonalds (@ $12 per scout)

Another Great Weekend

This past weekend we camped on our chartered organizations property. We had a great time and the boys functioned well as patrols. Our yearly planning went well although we didn't get as much done as I had hoped. We did, however, manage to plan our outings for the next 12 months and with a little more work we will be ready to present our plan to the troop committee for approval. The first night was clear and the full moon made the use of flashlights almost unnecessary. After dark the temperature dropped quickly and it was rather cold on Saturday morning. The boys were up around 5am and working on getting their fires restarted. I was glad to join them when I finally got up around 7. The second night wasn't nearly as cold and I had to wake the boys after I woke up. I guess they were tired from all the activity the previous day. I am including several pictures of the weekends activities.

October Outing

Our next outing is scheduled for October 22-24 on the Pinnacle Church campus. We will be camping as patrols on the banks of the Pigeon river. Scouts will be working on advancement requirements as well as fishing and working on some projects around our scout hut. Our patrol leaders council will be conducting their yearly planning conference.

The troop is growing and the scouts are beginning to take charge of their troop!

I'll let you know how it goes.
