Cold Weather Camping at CDB

It is January and this month's camping will be at the Junaluska Campsite at Camp Daniel Boone. The Junaluska Campsite has been upgraded with the new 4-bunk cabins so we will not be needing tents. However, you will definately be needing a good sleeping bag!! Even though we are in cabins, it is still winter and it does get cold at night. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU BRING THE APPROPRIATE GEAR!! If you have any questions as to what gear you should bring.... please talk with your patrol leader. (Chris Skinner for the Coyote Patrol, and Blake Radder for the Cobra Patrol.) All Scouts will be responsible for their own meals, either as a patrol or individually, that is to be determined by patrol. Since there is Saturday school, we will only be camping one night instead of the planned two nights. We will meet at Pinnacle Church at 2:00pm on Saturday, Jan. 22nd. From there we will load into the church van and head on over to Camp. This weekend is also an Order of the Arrow work weekend and we will be doing a service project to assist them with their goal. Please wear your Class B uniforms for this service project (feel free to wear other layers underneath it). On Sunday morning we will be coming back to Pinnacle in time for their worship service. Class A uniforms are required for Sunday morning. You may have your ride be ready to pick you up after the worship service.

Last Scout Meeting of 2010

Scoutmaster Tim doesn't like to cancel meetings.... so when God gave us a boat-load of snow, we made sled runs!!! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!! We did however move the meeting time up several hours since everybody was out of school. Thanks to all who braved the elements to come out and have some fun!

WINTER CAMPING SURVIVAL SKILLS

Saturday, December 18th we will be camping in Tim's Scout World at Pinnacle Church (down the hill from the church, by the river). The plan is to arrive at 9:00am at Pinnacle Church. Eat breakfast BEFORE arriving. Bring a bag lunch for Saturday's lunch. Dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning will be provided for you.

During this outing we will:

1)
Build winter shelters
2) Work on the trail from the church to the Scout Hut
3) Conduct a Board of Review for any Scout who needs one to recieve their Rank at the Court of Honor on Monday. (Last chance.)
4) Support Pinnacle Church (our chartered organization) by doing a service project Sunday morning. CLASS "A" UNIFORMS REQUIRED.

What to bring:

*Something to drink (I recomend water)
*Something to eat (pack a bag lunch)
*Something to keep you warm (dress in layers and bring gloves and a hat or a toboggan)
*Something to keep you dry (a winter rain jacket or a disposable rain poncho, just in case)
*Something to carry your stuff (a backpack is a wonderful thing, but keep it light)
*Something to help with the shelter (Tim has authorized 1 tarp and 1 rope per scout)
*Something to help you work (I recomend some work gloves for the trail)
*Something to make you look sharp (that means bring your CLASS "A" UNIFORM for Sunday)
*Something to make this fun! (I recomend a smile and a good attitude)

2010 CANTON CHRISTMAS PARADE

On Thursday, December 2nd our Troop joined with Pack 326 and the North Canton Fire Department in the Canton Christmas Parade. The Cub Scouts got to ride on top of one of the big trucks and the Boy Scouts formed an honor guard walking behind them with the American flag and our troop flag. It was a little chilly but a lot of fun. We would like to say thank you to the men and women of the North Canton Fire Department for making this extra special.
